Designed for both new and experienced musicians, Cadence for Change (C4C) offers a place to belong, grow, and create something meaningful together. Music at C4C is more than practice — it's a shared experience.
Music education should be accessible to everyone
Cadence for Change is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering musical aspirations in people of all ages and backgrounds by providing opportunities to deepen their enjoyment, engagement, and appreciation of music. We believe in education and building relationships with public schools that could benefit from more musical support, because music education is so underfunded.

Join an ensemble
Through one-on-one mentorship, weekly ensemble work, and opportunities to perform onstage and in the community, we help musicians rediscover their voice, deepen their skills, and push beyond what they thought possible.
Choir
A non-audition choir where everyone is welcome, supported, and encouraged to learn skills and techniques, and to benefit from community and artistic collaborations.

Chamber Choir
For singers with more experience — an ensemble where you can work in greater artistic detail, learn more music, and be attentive to each individual voice.

An opportunity to find your individual voice, share it in a smaller setting, and receive individual guidance on vocal health and technique.

Preserving San Francisco's rich music legacy
C4C is committed to exploring opportunities to preserve and restore the city's musical history, in collaboration with the City of San Francisco.
Fillmore Substation
C4C is exploring, with the City of San Francisco, the preservation and restoration of the historic Fillmore Substation at 1150/1190 Fillmore Street — with the goal of it becoming a beacon for music education in the community.
Exposition Organ
The Exposition Organ (the People's Organ, Opus 500) was built for the opening of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition on February 21, 1915. Damaged in the 1989 earthquake, it now sits in the basement of City Hall. C4C is in discussions with the City about a new permanent home.
Fillmore Heritage Center
The Fillmore Heritage Center has a rich history and significance in the Fillmore, and has sat empty for a long time. C4C and the City are working with the Fillmore community to explore ways to reawaken it.
